This Postgraduate Certificate in Perioperative Specialty Nursing  is a combined initiative and run in partnership, with Medtra delivering the programme and Whitirieia Community Polytechnic providing the academic support and monitoring

The intention of the program is to build upon existing knowledge and experience, while providing an environment that ensures the supported acquisition of theoretical evidence based knowledge and skills relevant to the area of perioperative specialty nursing practice.

It is a fully integrated study experience, with theory informing clinical practice, and clinical practice informing theoretical knowledge gains in individuals specific area of practice and clinical context.

With the theory and clinical integration, the program is designed to further develop knowledge gained within the under graduate qualification and beyond, and supports the application of theory to practice through the use of evidence based reflective practice and best practice standards.

Theoretical knowledge is primarily presented at tutorial days.  Skill knowledge is primarily learned in the clinical setting.

This is a TWO PAPER (4module) program, which constitutes the Postgraduate Certificate in Peri-Operative Specialty Nursing, for entry to specialty peri operative nursing practice.

FOUNDATIONS OF SPECIALTY PRACTICE PAPER (Level 8)

Programme information and enrolment application for potential students - 2012

Foundations of Specialty Practice paper is a combined initiative and run in partnership with Medtra delivering the paper and Whitireia Community Polytechnic providing the academic support and monitoring.

The paper is the first of two papers which make up the Postgraduate Certificate detailed above.  It is generic in its delivery and relevant to all RN's working in acute medical surgical nursing and areas of high acuity.  The paper is divided into two parts and includes Physiology and Assessment and Chronic Health Issues and Pharmacology.
